Talks between top leadership ongoing, decision soon

Srinagar, August 20 : In the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, political developments are happening at a fast pace. Every day, there are some major developments regarding the political setup, and now the formation of alliances between two political parties is in the limelight, ahead of the upcoming assembly elections.
Last week, the Election Commission of India announced the dates for assembly elections in J&K after a long gap of 10 years.
Sources close to the Congress leadership informed Kashmir Despatch that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to visit Kashmir, and talks are already underway with the National Confrence (NC) leadership to form an alliance, so that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) is not allowed to gain any foothold in Kashmir.
It is also said that talks are happening with the PDP leadership also, and in the coming days, if Rahul Gandhi’s approval is received, there might be an alliance on some seats with PDP as well sources said.
Regarding this development, sources close to the National Conference told Kashmir Despatch that yes, talks are ongoing with the Congress leadership for an alliance, and a decision will be made when the senior Congress leader visits Kashmir.
The sources further said that this election will give a befitting reply to BJP and its ‘B-teams’ (proxy parties).
Sources further said that now the people are ready to vote wisely, and they are confident that they will elect the right representatives who will not leave any stone unturned under their leadership.
Sources further said that, in the coming days, some more major developments are expected, and there is anticipation of some big leaders joining the NC.
Regarding Omar Abdullah not contesting the elections, the party sources said that it is not completely decided yet, but the party leadership has requested Vice President Omar Abdullah to contest the assembly elections, and a final update on this will be provided in the coming days.
