Ganderbal, Aug 27 (KNO): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Tuesday announced that its Vice President Omar Abdullah will contest from the Ganderbal constituency, and Mian Mehar Ali, the son of its senior leader and MP Mian Altaf Ahmad, will contest from the Kangan constituency in the upcoming assembly elections.
This decision, approved by the JKNC President Dr Farooq Abdullah, has sparked celebrations among party workers and supporters in both regions.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), party members in Ganderbal expressed joy and excitement over Abdullah’s nomination. They see it as the fulfillment of a long-held aspiration.
“This is a dream come true after a decade-long wait to have someone like Omar Abdullah represent us in the assembly,” one enthusiastic party worker told KNO.
Similarly, supporters in Kangan welcomed Mian Mehar Ali’s nomination.
Mushtaq Ahmed, Central Kashmir Zone President, said the decision has delighted the people of Ganderbal and will contribute positively to the district’s development.
Another NC worker from Kangan said Omar Abdullah and Mian Mehar Ali’s candidacies will “greatly benefit” Kangan Ganderbal—(KNO)
