The Sopore police on Tuesday directed street vendors not to install their carts on the streets in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district from tomorrow onwards citing the reason that they are involved in drug abuse.
A senior police officer told Kashmir Despatch that we are putting our all efforts to make Sopore drug free and from other side despite allowing street vendors to run their businesses but unfortunately they were found involved in wrong practices.
“To make Sopore drug free, police can’t single handedly work on it, it’s the responsibility of every individual of Sopore to come forward to play their bit for saving the lives of the younger generation,” the police official said.
The police said that several street vendors in Sopore have been found involved in substance abuse and were counselled accordingly.
“It seems they are not adhering to the repeated warnings hence we were forced to take strict action against them,” the police official told.
