Gurez: Two women were rescued after a snow avalanche hit the Tulail area of Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Friday.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that two women identified as Tabassum Bano and Shahnaza Begum were collecting drinking water from a nearby tap when they came under a medium avalanche in the Mazgund area of Tulail on Friday morning.
Abdul Rashid, a local resident of Mazgund village, told Kashmir Despatch over the phone that soon after the incident a rescue operation was launched by locals and that after strenuous efforts both women were rescued alive.
Pertinently, earlier this month, two minor avalanches were observed in Gurez and Tulail tehsil, in which no damage to property or loss of life occurred.
