Awantipora Encounter: Third militant body recovered, searches on

Srinagar, May 18 : Government forces on Saturday recovered third militant body from the encounter site at Panzgam area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

A police officer told GNS that during the search operation one more body of militant has been recovered, taking the death toll of militants to three.

The officer said the identities and the group affiliation of the slain trio are being ascertained.

As per the sources the slain militants were affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.

Earlier, the officer said that the encounter broke out in Panzgam village after a joint team of army’s 55 RR and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation following inputs about the presence of some militants. (GNS)
