Sopore : An awareness programme on the prevention of drug abuse on Sunday was held in north Kashmir’s Sopore town.
SDPO Sopore Raja Majid, SHO Sopore Azim Iqbal joined the daylong programme as Chief Guests and shared their views on the prevention of drugs. They on the occasion said the objective of such programs is to generate awareness among the general masses on ill effects of drug abuse.
Speaking on the occasion SDPO Sopore Raja Majid said valley is under the threat of drug-addiction, which is increasing its grab on our future generation with every passing day.
While SHO Sopore Azim Iqbal also highlighted ill effects of drug-menace on the occasion.
More than 200 people from the town including students participated in the program and got benefitted from it.
Speaking with Kashmir Despatch SDPO Sopore Raja Majid said information and counseling was one of the main activities of the progarmme. He said the programme was attended by a good number of students and the faculty members at the respective institutions, whose good cooperation showed the mutual solidarity in the fight against Drug addiction menace.
The main objective of the plan of action was to sensitize the participants about the menace of substance abuse and its detrimental effects on our society as a whole.
The officer added such awareness programmes will be conducted in the near future also.
