Awareness rally to save girl child flagged off in Ganderbal

GANDERBAL : District Social Welfare Office Ganderbal and DHEW Mission Shakti Ganderbal in collaboration with School Education Department Ganderbal today flagged off a mega awareness rally , from girls higher secondary school kangan and its adjecent areas fervently championing the cause of gender equality and saving girl child through the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP) scheme.

Almost 150 students from different schools,teachers ‘Bilal Bhat social activisit and project coordinator women helpline ‘and team of DHEW Mission Shakti participated in Rally.

The rally aimed to raise awareness about the challenges faced by the girl child and underscore the significance of education in fostering a more equitable society.

The BBBP scheme, aptly translating to ‘Save the girl child, educate the girl child,’ stands as a testament to the commitment of the Indian Government to addressing gender discrimination and advancing women’s empowerment across the nation. Team highlighted the pivotal role in dismantling stereotypes and promoting a culture of inclusivity.

The team emphasised the multifaceted objectives of the BBBP scheme, which extend beyond education to challenge ingrained gender biases.

The scheme seeks to catalyze a societal shift by fostering awareness about the inherent value of the girl child and promoting gender-neutral opportunities for growth and development.

Furthermore, the team drew attention to the comprehensive approach of the scheme in improving the efficacy of welfare services for girls. By creating a supportive environment and dismantling systemic barriers, the BBBP initiative strives to ensure that every girl has access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for a brighter future.
