Awoo School Chaley in Kupwara; Govt schools enroll 22000 new students; bring back 743 out of school children in 2022-23

Srinagar, January 17 : The education sector in Kupwara is undergoing a positive transformation, addressing issues like poor infrastructure, enrollment decline, and inadequate facilities.  

In the 2022-23 academic year, the district administration’s focus on education yielded positive results, bringing 743 out-of-school children back to government schools and enrolling over 22,000 new students across 12 zones.


To modernize education, 147 smart class rooms established by installing 147 smart boards, with 108 more in the pipeline. Also, four ATL Tinkering Labs have been established to nurture curiosity and innovation.

About 350 specially abled children in different age groups have been provided aid and appliances .


The government has paid attention to infrastructure development, creating 105 Kindergarten facilities and covering 131 schools with ICT/Smart Classrooms.


The administration has also made 10 KGBVs functional from Rented to Government accommodations, while served Mid Day meals to 98863 students in the fiscal year.


Noteworthy achievements include the establishment of 42 Seasonal Centers and Water-proof tents, providing support to 208 Aayas under Pre-Primary intervention. 


Despite challenges like staff shortages, with more than 400 vacant positions, the administration has engaged around 100 subject-specific Cluster Resource Coordinators to address the gap.


An official talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), expressed confidence in the education sector’s improvement, emphasizing significant growth in recent years. 


He highlighted the crucial role infrastructure plays and pledged ongoing efforts to enhance facilities in government schools across the district.


The increase in enrollment, a collective effort of teachers, PRIs, and locals, reflects their commitment to ensuring that no student is left behind, he added.(KNS)
