From Redressal to Recreation

KISHTWAR, Oct 7: Instead of redressing the grievances of people which was the main purpose of J&K government’s Back to Village programme, the government deputed officers at Panchayat Dharbadan in Block Thakraie tehsil Kishtwar turned the programme into a recreational show.
The officers in the Panchayat could be seen dancing to the tunes of a local folk singer and mesmerizing the locals.
The event was reminiscent of old days when Panchayat used to be a hub of recreation for rural population.
Not only the officers had a gala time in listening to the music and performing the dances but sources told Kashmir Despatch that they also tasted a rare feast, rendering the Back to Village programme meaningless.
