“258,852 voters to exercise franchise in Bandipora in 312 polling stations for assembly elections”

Bandipora, Aug 17: The district election officer Bandipora, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Saturday said that 312 polling stations will be set up in three constituencies of Bandipora district for the upcoming assembly elections.
Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Manzoor Ahmad Qadri (JKAS) as per Kashmir Despatch Correspondent said that the district administration is committed to conducting free and fair elections in the district and will work to raise awareness to increase voter turnout in the district.
He said that the district has a total of 258,852 voters, which includes 132,476 male voters, 124,579 female voters, 2,484 PwD voters, and six transgender voters.
For the three assembly constituencies in the district, 137 polling stations will be set up in Sonawari, 144 in Bandipora, and 31 will be in Gurez.
“In the last elections, the district witnessed a 60.68% voter turnout, and we will conduct several awareness programmes to educate voters to increase voter turnout in the district,” he said.
He also added that the notification has already been issued for depositing arms in the concerned police stations for arms license holders in the district to avoid any issues.
He further added that several helplines have been already issued by nodal officers for the general public, and if they witness any bribery or untoward incidents, they can contact the nodal officer of the district.
Pertinently, the announcement of the assembly elections by the Election Commission of India yesterday, Bandipora will go for voting in the third phase of the elections on October 1.
