Bandipora-Gurez road to reopen on Wednesday

Bandipora: After remaining closed for three months, the Bandipora-Gurez road will be thrown open for vehicular movement tomorrow, on Wednesday, officials said.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that snow clearance work was completed in the shortest time and the road will be thrown open for vehicular movement from tomorrow, he said. However, no vehicle shall be allowed to operate without anti-skid chains after the cut-off time.

Meanwhile, Bandipora admin, in an order of which a copy lies with Kashmir Despatch, says, “As conveyed by BRO 56 RCC, Bandipora snow clearance on Guru Bandipora road has been completed and the road has been opened for traffic.”

Accordingly, it is hereby ordered that One-way traffic shall be allowed from tomorrow, i.e., March 15, 2023, on alternate days from Bandipora to Gurez and vice versa.

No vehicle shall be allowed without anti-skid chains.

No overloaded vehicle (passenger or load carrier) shall be allowed to move on the said road.

HMVs shall not be allowed until further orders.

The following cut-off timings are notified for traffic movement.

Bandipora to Gurez: TCP Tragbal, 1300 hrs.

Gurez to Bandlpora:  TCP Kanzalwan 1300 hrs.

The restriction on movement shall not apply to vehicles or machinery of BRO, the Mechanical Engineering Department, or ambulances.

BRO 56 RCC shall keep the snow clearance machine along with manpower-designated locations.

In case of a forecast of snowfall or rainfall, the road shall be closed for all kinds of movement,” the statement further reads.
