In Bandipora a special cell of NCW has been set up in police station Bandipora, where officials posted are providing legal aid, counseling and other assistance to womens affected by domestic violence.
“Special cells like this are the hope for the womens who remains silent on domestic violence. Most of the women remain silent on these issues which become a burden on their lives, they are unable to live their lives happily,” one of the women affected by domestic violence told Kashmir Despatch.
She added, the women need to come forward against the violence on her and should report these things so that they will not become targets in their in-laws or families.
“Many incidents remain unreported due to barriers like illiteracy and limited education, which prevents women from filing complaints online,” an official said.
“Out of 356 cases, cases have been solved. 15 have been referred to DLSA and 10 cases have been closed by mutual separation.”
