Bandipora’s female cricketer selected for KU’s women’s cricket team

Bandipora, Nov 11: Bandipora’s female cricketer has been selected for Kashmir University women’s cricket team after successful trials by the university.

Masrat Bashir, 20, a Bachelor of Arts student in Hassan khoihamia Degree college Bandipora was among the part of other ten players who have been selected by the college among which she had only been selected.

Speaking with the Kashmir Despatch, Masrat said that the opportunities for the girls in rural areas are less as compared to urban areas, especially for the girls in a male dominated region like Kashmir.

She thanked the college authorities and her parents especially her father for supporting her and building her career in cricket and aims to play for team India in future.

“The hardwork and commitment towards any goal will help players to be successful in the fields in which they want,” she added.

Another player Iqra who was also part of the team while congratulating Masrat said that she had done very well and it was all because of her hard work and consistency.

“Sports is the key which will keep players away from drugs , especially girls, because not only boys, a big number of girls are also addicted to drug menace”.

She in a message to other girls said that it is important to be in touch with sports activities as it will keep players not only physically fit but also mentally.

Meanwhile Dr Towseef, the Head of the physical education department while congratulating Masrat said that the college authorities are supporting players in sports activities and are working hard to produce more talent like Masrat.

He also said that in an inter college women’s tournament conducted by Kashmir University the college team had played very well and had secured her spot in the semi finals.
