BARAMULLA, Nov 09:
In a significant step toward dismantling the terror ecosystem and strengthening law enforcement across north Kashmir, the Baramulla Police has intensified its operations against anti-national and law-violating elements. On November 8, 2025, all units of the district police carried out a series of coordinated actions aimed at preventing threats to peace and enhancing overall community safety.
According to officials, these operations were conducted simultaneously across various parts of Baramulla district. The police teams searched 25 properties linked with Kashmiri natives currently based in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan. During these searches, 19 individuals were bound down under preventive provisions of law to ensure that no unlawful activities are carried out under their influence.
Similarly, 22 properties associated with Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were searched. Out of these, 17 OGWs were bound down, while three were sent to jail under preventive detention. The police also searched six properties linked with individuals earlier booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) who are currently out on bail. As a result, three more OGWs were bound down and two were detained under preventive laws.
To curb misuse of communication channels, 73 SIM card vendors across the district were inspected to verify compliance with subscriber verification norms. Police also set up multiple checkpoints along the National Highway and other important routes, where a total of 208 vehicles were thoroughly checked. Additionally, 14 Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) were carried out simultaneously in sensitive areas to preempt any potential subversive activity.
A senior police officer said the operations are part of a sustained campaign to disrupt networks that provide logistical, financial, or moral support to terror elements. “The objective is to ensure that no individual or group can disturb the peace and stability that the district has achieved through consistent efforts of security agencies and cooperation of the people,” the officer said.
Reiterating its firm stance against those attempting to destabilize the region, the Baramulla Police assured that such operations will continue in the coming days. “We remain committed to maintaining law and order and will take stern action against anyone trying to disrupt peace,” the statement added.
The large-scale preventive measures mark a renewed push by the Baramulla Police to consolidate peace and security, sending a strong message that any form of terror support system will be dealt with firmly and decisively.
