Bandipora, December 14: Around 18 sheep were killed in a bear attack and 25 were injured in Check Arsalan Khan village of Bandipora district on the intervening night of Thursday.
Local residents, while speaking with the Kashmir Despatch, said that on Thursday night, around three bears barged into the tin sheds of Zubair Ahmad and mauled 18 sheep to death and injured 25 others, whereas several are still missing.
A team from the wildlife department also visited the spot in the morning and took stock of the situation.

A senior officer of the wildlife department told Kashmir Despatch that they have installed a cage in the area soon after the incident and assured that they will catch the bear soon and will appeal to higher officials for compensation for the family as well.
The sheep husbandry department also visited the spot and took stock of the situation.
