*Zonal conference held at PCR Kashmir to sensitise field officers on strengthening grassroots policing and community engagement*
Srinagar, Sept 26: Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir on Saturday organised a one-day conference at PCR Kashmir to sensitise and activate field officers towards effective implementation of Beat-Level Policing, with IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar-IPS stressing the need for a stronger, accountable and technology-enabled beat system.
As per news agency JKNS, Zonal Police Headquarters Kashmir organized one day conference to activate and sensitise field officers regarding Beat Level Policing at PCR Kashmir.
The conference was held under the chairmanship of IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar-IPS, and was attended by all Range DIsG of Kashmir Zone, all district SSsP of Kashmir Zone, SSP PCR Kashmir, and other field officers of Kashmir Zone.
The conference commenced with the inaugural address by IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar-IPS, who emphasized the importance of an effective, accountable and technology-enabled beat system as the foundation of preventive and community-oriented policing.
The Range DIGs discussed the current status of Beat Policing and challenges in its implementation.
They focused on beat structuring, crime mapping, identification of vulnerable locations, preventive measures, surveillance and coordination. They also emphasized standardization of core beat duties, roles and responsibilities of Beat Officers, and adherence to prescribed protocols.
The District SSsP/participating officers also focused on digitization of Beat Books through structured data and innovative technologies.
They discussed the use of CCTV, police databases and other digital tools for enhanced monitoring and intelligence-led policing at the beat level.
The conference concluded with an emphasis on the revival and effective implementation of Beat-Level Policing and community engagement.
The participating officers pledged to further strengthen Beat-Level Policing through effective field-level implementation and greater community engagement.
