Black bear captured in Uri

Srinagar, June 15: A black bear was captured in the border town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla on Monday.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a black bear was captured by locals at Rather Mohalla Ijara in the Uri sector on Monday and later handed over to the wildlife department.

Reports said one more wild bear is active from the area and had caused severe damage to the standing crops and livestock.

An official at wildlife department also confirmed to Kashmir Despatch and said after getting information a team was sent to the area, he said the bear would be released in the higher reaches of the district.

Pertinently, Wildlife Department captured two wild bears in Handwara village last month.
