Srinagar, Oct 30: Breaking barriers, women in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir are reaching remarkable heights, making their parents and the state proud through their hard work and dedication.
Kashmiri gilrs have consistently excelled in education, not only cracking major exams but also securing prominent positions and serving as inspirations for others. Continuing this momentum, once again, a daughter of Kashmir has made the state proud by achieving 2nd rank in the recently announced JKAS results.
Meet Iqra Farooq Bhat, the daughter of a tailor hailing from Zakura, Srinagar. Topping the Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) has brought pride and empowerment to the state.
In an interview with Kashmir Despatch, Iqra remarked, “Hard work is never wasted; you must work hard for a bright and successful future.” She emphasized that diligence always yields positive outcomes. In today’s world, it matters little whether one can afford coaching, as with internet access, anyone can find the resources needed for a promising career. “Google can provide guidance if you truly set a goal for success,” she added.
Iqra recognized the challenges of coming from a middle-class family with less-than-ideal financial conditions. However, she credited her parents for doing everything they could to support her education and meet her needs. “It is one’s own efforts that will ultimately lead to success,” she reinforced.
“During my bachelor’s studies, I discovered a passion for helping others. After completing my B.Sc. and pursuing an M.Sc., I began my journey towards the JKAS in 2021, turning my dreams into reality through three years of dedication and hard work” Iqra said.
Expressing her joy, Iqra stated, “I didn’t expect to achieve Rank 2. I checked the results multiple times to confirm it was really me.”
In a message to aspiring candidates, Iqra advised, “Do not lose hope. Work hard, and success will definitely come to you.” She encouraged those who faced setbacks not to be disheartened but to refocus and work even harder until they achieve their goals.
Maintaining a joyful atmosphere, Iqra’s father, a humble tailor, spoke with Kashmir Despatch and said, “I am thankful to Almighty Allah for this; it’s His will that my daughter has succeeded with flying colors. Everyone works hard for their children’s futures; we did our best. While we may not be high-profile, I am a tailor, and at times, I may not have been able to support my daughter as much as I wished. However, this is all Allah’s blessing, and my daughter’s hard work has now yielded results.”
He added, “For the past three years, my daughter has remained home, dedicated to her studies. I was confident her hard work would pay off, and today, by Allah’s grace, she has achieved success.”
Pertinently, The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has declared the result of Combined Competitive Examinations (CCE)-2023.
The selected candidates have been called for the medical examination as well.
As per the selection list issued by JKPSC, Sanjeev Kumar has secured the first position by scoring 1089 points while Iqra Farooq has secured second position. She has scored 1078 marks and Vasudha Sharma has secured 3rd position as she has scored 1075 marks.
