Srinagar, June 08: Brief exchange of firing took place between militants and government forces in Nowgam, area of Verinag of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday morning.
Reports reaching said that a joint team of Army’s 19RR and SOG launched a cordon and search operation in Nowgam.
A senior police officer told that forces laid siege around suspected spot after having credible inputs about presence of some militants.
The officer further said that there was a brief exchange of firing between militants and forces. However right now there is no exchange firing from both sides but we have strengthened cordoned in the area and searches are going, the officer said.(GNS)
