Leh May 7: Border Roads Organization (BRO) conducted week-long 900 km cycling expedition to commemorate the “Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav” and 61st Raising Day, aimed at spreading awareness on Covid-19 and road safety.
BRO officials said that such expeditions foster a spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and camaraderie, in addition to reinforcing a connect with the local population of Leh.
Officials said the Project Himank and Project Vijayak carried out these cycling expeditions in Ladakh UT from 30 April to 7 May.
Led by an officer, these cycling expeditions, covered a cumulative distance of 900 kms during these eight days.
“This included high passes, snow covered mountains, villages and towns of Ladakh as well as remote habitations. The officers and men enroute the expedition spread the message on Covid-19 control measures and road safety,” officials said.
The LG of Ladakh UT flagged in the expedition at Raj Niwas appreciated the spirit of BRO.
