Baramulla: The Educational Institutions across Kashmir Valley on Monday reopened after a gap of seven months, the markets across Kashmir valley were abuzz as school children’s with their parents were seeing busy while buying books, uniforms, lunch boxes, etc. but irony is that majority of the students in North Kashmir’s Baramulla did not make their first school day as school authorities had denied to provide them school transport, as school authorities are demanding the transportation fee even for the months during which institutions remain shut, by flouting the guidelines of government, as parents have denied paying the bus fee of unrest days.

On August 05 when the central Government had scraped the special status of Jammu and Kashmir, educational institutions remained off as government had tried hard to reopen the schools in phases manner, but the official order did not have to create any enthusiasm in school children despite the fair of perceptional threat by which parents shows their dissatisfaction to send their wards to schools but they have given priority to keep their wards in four walls, however, in some schools the attendance was slowly increasing up since October but was not satisfactory.

Meanwhile in the month of September-October authorities have some-how managed to conduct the secondary and higher secondary examinations, and asked school authorities to promote the primary classes on assignment basis.

However, the divisional commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan had directed all Deputy Commissioners & School Education department to ensure that no tuition and bus fee shall be charged from students of government schools as well as private schools during closed days of August and September months of the year 2019. He stressed upon a fast track action against those schools who will be found indulging this practice, heavy course of penalty shall be charged besides registration of such educational institution would be canceled. He stressed concerned to implement the directions in letter and spirit across the valley.

Scores of parents in this north Kashmir told Kashmir Despatch its sad as even after seven months our children didn’t make ways to school due to the neglecting attitude of school authorities to stop transport facility over bus fee issue. They while termed this step of school authorities irresponsible and said with this they are playing with the careers of our children as already for the past seven months their education was worst hit due to the situations in Kashmir.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. G.N Ittoo told Kashmir Despatch that he is not aware of this issue, he said that whosever will not follow guidelines of the govt. will be strictly dealt with. He, however, appealed to the private school Association to follow the norms and don’t give a chance to the administration for any action.

Earlier President of Private Schools Association G N Var in a statement had said it’s only a few elements who are trying to create maligning the contribution of Private education in Kashmir.
He had said this is not the first time but in the past as well these few elements have been trying to create scenes in private schools to defame the image of the institutions. He however in the statement had said that no school transport will operate until the issues pertaining to school transport will not be resolved amicably.
