Srinagar, Oct 21 : To condemn the killing of seven workers, including a doctor, in a militant attack in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir the previous day, candlelight marches were held in several locations across Kashmir to express solidarity with the families of the victims.
Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said that marches took place in Srinagar, Baramulla, Budgam, Bandipora, Anantnag, Kulgam, Kupwara, Ganderbal, and Shopian districts, with people from all walks of life participating in large numbers.
The marchers condemned the killings and expressed support for the bereaved families while denouncing the murder of innocent civilians.
According to eyewitness accounts, the marches saw significant participation, with attendees holding candles and shouting anti-Pakistani slogans.
With resolute determination, participants called on authorities to swiftly and diligently identify the perpetrators responsible for this despicable act and ensure they are held accountable under the full extent of the law.
The protesters fervently denounced the heinous attack, unequivocally expressing their unwavering solidarity with the grieving families affected by this tragedy. They chanted slogans condemning the killing of innocent civilians.
Meanwhile, members of the Shiv Sena Dogra Front and Rashtriya Bajrang Dal burned Pakistani flags in Jammu on Monday in protest against the killings, accompanied by slogans against the neighboring country.
The protesters demanded the swift elimination of the terrorists involved in the fatal attack to restore confidence among the public.
Blaming Pakistan directly for the attack, the demonstrators claimed it stemmed from frustration among terrorists following the peaceful assembly elections and the formation of an elected government in Jammu and Kashmir.
Led by Shiv Sena Dogra Front President Ashok Gupta, the protesters also burned an effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in response to the “dastardly” attack in Ganderbal, raising slogans of “Pakistan Hai Hai.”
A doctor and six laborers were killed when terrorists struck a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway in Ganderbal district on Sunday.
The protesters emphasized a collective desire to live in peace and harmony, asserting that such unfortunate incidents should not occur, as every human life is precious.
