Sopore, Feb 20 : Constructional Contractors Association Sopore Saturday said that it will boycott the tenders and stop execution of allotted works following non payment of work done and unpaid bills by Municipal Council and R&B Departments.
In a statement issued to Kashmir Despatch, the association directed all the contractors to boycott the government tenders and the execution of allotted works as the deparrtments of Municipal Council Sopore and Rural and Block Development Soppre are unable to make payments of the work done by contractors.
Talking to Kashmir Despatch, a contractor from Sopore said that it has been a norm of government offices to stop billing of work done by the contractors.
“These departments are giving tough time to the contractors despite contractors working on time. Most of the times contractors are made to suffer and knock the doors of departments after work down,” he added.
Executive Officer MC Sopore Samir Jhon told Kashmir Despatch that work will be verified in all angles after that only payment will be released.
He said that bills of few contractors are pending and after the proper cross check, the payment will be released.
“We will initiate the process very soon. It will take us two days time to cross check the work done. Besides a meeting will be also held with such contractors accordingly and issues will be sorted out,” Sameer added.
He said that the department is monitoring quality work and all the contractors are requested to complete the work, after that only bills will be released.
