Celebrate Eid with austerity, follow protocols: DAK

Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Thursday appealed people to celebrate Eid Ul Azha with austerity and adhere to protocols strictly.

President DAK Dr Suhail Naik said that we must celebrate Eid-ul- Azha with austerity, simplicity and follow already framed protocols religiously.

In a statement issued here, he said, “We have observed during unlock 1 that when we would give Covid virus a chance by “overcrowding” or not following protocols, the virus can spread like a wild fire,” he said.

Naik said we need to adhere to the guidelines issued by the World Health Organization and medical experts to save ourselves, our kith and kin, neighbors and community.

“As we are short of vaccine we have to follow precautions religiously to keep curve flat so that health infrastructure can’t be overburden which is already overstretched,” he said.

The DAK president said the fight against COVID-19 is on the shoulders of civil societies and the general public.

“It is high time that civil societies including Mohallah committees, Masjid/Gurudwara committees should come forward and play their role in educating people to lessen the sufferings of the people and break the chain of the virus,” he said.

The doctor’s body praised the role of the general public who has displayed exemplary patience and cooperation despite heavy odds, frustration, depression, regression, poverty and hunger.

DAK appealed people to prefer online shopping and it is right time for entrepreneurs and retailers to go for online mode of business and delivery system.

“People must convey Eid greetings through phones and that would be fine in the given situation. We advise community members not to hug each other and not shake hands on Eid,” it said.

DAK appealed people to understand the gravity of the situation arisen due to the pandemic and help contain the deadly virus.
