Half Widow tells the story of Neela (Neelofar Hamid), who lives in Srinagar with her brother Zakir (Shahnawaz Bhat) and her aunt. She has lost both her parents by the time we meet her but is still full of hope and optimism towards her future. The time comes for her to get married and she gets married to a paper shop owner named Khalid (Mir Sarwar) The film gives at every stage feelings of authenticity.
The director makes sure to capture the landscape with a lot of beauty to contrast the misery that the characters are feeling.

The Film Half Widow team while talking to media said that we have talked to Dy. Commissioner Srinagar Mr. Shahid Chowdhery to advise all closed Cinema halls to open their theatres so that lakhs of people who want to watch the Kashmir based films could see them in these theatres which have diverted wrongly their original licensed task of screening films in Kashmir. The screening of Half Widow in all these theatres in Kashmir is being planned from first week of May 2020.
