Civilian shot at by unknown gunmen in South Kashmir

Unidentified gunmen on Saturday evening shot at a person in Kokernag area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Reports reaching Kashmir Despatch said a civilian identified as Sajad Hussain Mantoo
was shot by unidentified gunmen late this evening and injured him critically.

Mantoo received bullet injuries in his abdomen and thigh and was rushed to the district hospital for treatment reports added.

The reason behind the attack is not known yet, a police official told Kashmir Despatch. He said that whole area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.

Pertainally, earlier on Saturday militants lobbed a grenade attack outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Anantnag town of south Kashmir, leaving at least 14 people injured including a traffic cop and a Journalist.
