Srinagar, Oct 16: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said he had taken up with the Chief Secretary, in the “strongest possible terms”, the alleged verbal abuse of a junior JKAS officer by a senior IAS officer during an online government meeting.
In a post on X, CM Omar as per news agency Kashmir News Service (KNS) said the conduct of the senior officer, as seen in a video circulating on social media, was prima facie not in keeping with the standards expected of a senior IAS officer.
“The subsequent threats issued to a junior JKAS officer only make matters worse,” he said.
The Chief Minister said he had instructed the Chief Secretary to ensure that the JKAS officer did not face any retaliatory action.
“Unfortunately, as a UT, control over IAS officers rests with Lok Bhavan but as CM I’ve instructed the CS to ensure the JKAS officer faces no retributive action,” CM Omar said.
The controversy erupted after a purported video of an official online meeting, reportedly linked to Mission YUVA, surfaced on social media, triggering widespread criticism over the alleged treatment of the woman officer. (KNS)
