SRINAGAR, April 29: In a notable initiative aimed at strengthening youth employability through digital education, Government Degree College Pampore organised a felicitation ceremony to mark the successful completion of a three-month Skill Development Course in Web Development. The event brought together students, educators, and community members to celebrate not only the achievements of the participants but also the growing importance of skill-based learning in today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The programme was jointly conducted by the District Employment & Counselling Centre Pulwama in collaboration with DcodeFuture Pampore, with a clear objective of equipping unemployed youth in the district with relevant technical skills. By focusing on practical knowledge and hands-on training, the initiative sought to bridge the persistent gap between academic education and industry requirements.
Dr. Gazala Gayis, Principal of GDC Pampore, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and delivered a thoughtful address highlighting the growing necessity of skill-oriented education. She emphasised that in an increasingly digital world, traditional academic qualifications alone are no longer sufficient, and students must be equipped with practical competencies that align with current market demands. Commending the organisers, she noted that such initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing the career prospects of young individuals and preparing them for real-world challenges.
Adding to the discussion, Rayees Shapoo, Career Counsellor from the Department of Employment and Career Counselling, spoke about the department’s sustained efforts to support youth through structured training programmes and career guidance. He reiterated that empowering young people with relevant skills remains central to addressing unemployment and fostering economic growth in the region.
Aadil Bhat, Founder of DcodeFuture, provided an overview of the course, explaining that it was designed to offer both foundational and applied knowledge in web development. He highlighted that participants were trained using contemporary tools and technologies, enabling them to gain practical exposure that mirrors industry expectations. Reaffirming his organisation’s commitment to advancing coding education in the region, he encouraged the students to continue honing their skills and explore emerging opportunities in the technology sector.
The ceremony also served as a platform to recognise outstanding performance among the participants. Amarah Arshid secured the first position, followed by Momin Mushtaq in second place and Saima Ashraf in third. Their achievements were warmly acknowledged by the dignitaries, reflecting both their dedication and the effectiveness of the training programme.
The event further featured remarks by Advocate Nadeem Qadri and retired Principal Firdous Wani, who appreciated the initiative and motivated students to remain focused on continuous learning and self-improvement. Certificates were distributed to all participants, marking the successful culmination of their training and symbolising a meaningful step forward in their professional journeys.
