SRINAGAR, March 16: A meeting was today conducted under the Chairmanship of Commissioner SMC Athar Amir Khan to review to implementation of National Clean Air Programme in the Srinagar City.
The review of the implementation of the action plan for the year 2022-23 was carried out. Srinagar Muncipal Corporation has procured Mechanical Sweeping Machines, Water and Mist Sprinklers, initiated Plantation drives under the 2021-22 component. In the 2022-23 component, plan is to to develop urban forestry patches, ensure avenue plantation, construct fountains in the city in addition ensure pavement of earthen shoulders in footpaths in the city. The officers were directed to expedite the work on all the compenents. SMC will also set up Cowdung Go Cast units for SHGs for processing of cowdung and setting up of Briketting units for management of Horticulture waste and dry foliage of plants.
There has been significant improvement in the past year in the air quality of Srinagar city. In the review meeting directions and timelines were set for implementation and compeletion of all these components.
