Sopore : The four member committee set by the department of education to probe the allegations leveled by a group of students from GMS Chankhan, Sopore today submitted their report to Zonal Education officer Sopore and termed the allegations as baseless.

The four member committee recommended early restoration of the position of the HM GMS Chankhan with dignity.

A copy of a statement that lies with this office reads that in compliance with the directions of ZEO Sopore, a committee headed by senior most headmaster Nighat Parveen visited GMS Chankhan on 03-08-2022 and 04.08 2022.

“The committee held separate one on one discussions with the staff members, students on roll and also the locals, SMC members and parents. During the deliberations with different stake holders it came to fore that no such practice of child labour is in place in the institution. The students on roll along with their parents stated that students have never been asked to clean up classrooms or campus except for the days when cleanliness drives were organised by institutions following directions from the higher ups and in order to inculcate the habit of healthy living in them,” the statement added.

In its report the committee said that it held separate meetings with the agitating students (those who visited the zonal Education office Sopore and afterwards presented themselves before some social media journalists).

“It would not be out of place to mention here that few girl students have indulged in immoral activity which involves water throwing at each other a week back, peeping through classroom windows falling towards roadside during lunch break & often not following directions from their teachers. Some among them were asked by the staff to wipe out water from the school lobby (which was inundated) using a wiper to inculcate disciplinary values so that they do not repeat such acts in future. This didn’t go well with a few students and they planned to approach the zonal education office sopore only to defame their teachers which the agitating students accepted themselves,” the report further added.

It said that the students were misguided by some street vendor who happens to be from the same locality of Chankhan.

“It was he (the street vendor) who on seeing uniformed students enquired and called in some media person to the spot and took undue advantage of the innocent students,” the report said.

The committee members said that the locals (SMC members & parents) were in all praise for the HM GMS Chankhan & her staff, Rifat Ali and as per them she is a sober, down to earth, hardworking, dedicated and a generous lady who leaves no stone unturned to help the students in need.

The committee took written statements from all stakeholders and recommended early restoration of the position of the HM GMS chankhan with dignity.
