Sopore: In a surprising claim, Haji Abdul Rashid, the Congress candidate contesting for the Sopore seat, said that “dreaming is not a sin” and that Congress will once again gain control of the Sopore seat.
Speaking exclusively with Kashmir Despatch, Haji Abdul Rashid, a two-time MLA from the Sopore seat, said that many candidates are fighting this time in Sopore, however, “dreaming is not a sin” and the symbol of Congress is going to be affixed on this seat again due to the trust and support of the people.
Haji said that the people in Sopore are eager to see the rule of Congress again, and now the elections are approaching, and on October 8th, the decision will be in favor of Congress.
He said that he does not see any competition from anyone in this race, as it is the people who are once again set to decide their fate in favor of Congress.
When asked about Delimitation, he said that it does not matter how many areas have been cut or new areas have been added, it is the love of the people that is pulling me towards them and I myself am excited to be a part of their joys and sorrows again and to bring Sopore onto a different map where Development, peace, and prosperity will be the priority.
Meanwhile, The changing circumstances and the shift in the political setup in North Kashmir’s Sopore constituency are no different this time than other parts of Kashmir.
As per ground reports, the Sopore seat is likely to witness an interesting fight between the competing candidates.
The ground survey provides a balanced report on the top contending candidates in the fray.
In the fray, the National Conference and Congress Alliance candidates are fighting on the basis of mutual understanding, while a young leader from the PDP has also entered the race. The list of independent candidates is also growing, and sources suggest that at least 20 candidates have expressed interest in participating in this election.
The ground survey indicates a healthy competition between the NC candidate Irshad Rasool Kar, the PDP’s Irfan Ali Lone, AIP Advocate Mursaleen and the independent candidate Advocate Latief Ahmad in the town.
As per the survey, the overall seat is seeing a healthy competition between the NC and Congress.
