Coronavirus adds more anxiety to J&K residents after 47 fresh deaths

Srinagar, May 01 : The eve of Saturday added more fear and threat among the residents of Jammu and Kashmir as 47 more people died due to Coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

COVID-19 2nd wave is heading forward and adding more fuel by contaminating many people and the total death toll reaches to 2330 in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

As per latest health data availiable with Kashmir Despatch, The highest ever number of positive cases as well as deaths in a single day were reported on Saturday in J&K.

With the fresh 3832 positive cases, A health official in a chat with Kashmir Despatch said, the COVID-19 is touching the heights of sky as many more people across both divisions are under quarantine and are getting tested respectively.

As per data 1231 of these cases were reported from Jammu Division and 2601 from Kashmir, taking the overall tally to 179915, while 30 persons on Saturday died were from Jammu Division and 17 from Kashmir Valley, taking the fatality count to 2330.

The health official further said that Srinagar reported 1084 cases, Baramulla 309, Budgam 291, Pulwama 70, Kupwara 122, Anantnag 286, Bandipora 77, Ganderbal 94, Kulgam 221, Shopian 47, Jammu 504, Udhampur 141, Rajouri 96, Doda 42, Kathua 120, Samba 137, Kishtwar 15, Poonch 64, Ramban 60 and Reasi 52.

Moreover, it is advised and requested to general public stay indoors, eat hygienic and avoid unnecessary social gatherings he said.

Meanwhile, Authorities on Saturday declared three more localities of Hajin and Sumbal areas of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district as Micro-Containment Zones following the detection of covid-19 positive cases.

The three localities including Hajam Mohallah of Estate Hajin, Darzi Mohallah and Tung Mohallah, of Estate Asham Tehsil Sumbal have been declared as Micro Containment Zone for the purpose of initiation of necessary measures for containment and further spread of COVID-19.

An order issued by Deputy Commissioner Bandipora in this regard, reads that there shall be strict perimeter control within 100 meters of the said Micro Containment Zone.

It said that Chief Medical Officer, Bandipora shall initiate vigorous and extensive contact racing of all the fresh reported positive cases and 100% subsequent sampling of all such contacts.
