Coronavirus: Kashmiri students stuck in Bangladesh demand immediate evacuation

Date:

In wake of the coronavirus outbreak, the students from Kashmir pursuing various courses in Bangladesh have been left stranded at the country’s border with India.

The colleges in Bangladesh have been shut and all the students have been asked to go home. “We are around 70 students from different colleges, stuck here (in Bangladesh) and we want to return home,” the students said.

They appealed External Affairs Minister to intervene and appealed to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to open borders for them so that they can go home.

The students also urged the J&K administration to intervene into the matter and ensure their safe return.

“We urge the Jammu and Kashmir administration and Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Government of India to take immediate measures in bringing us back to Kashmir,” the students said.
