Coronavirus outbreak in J&K:South Kashmir gears up to fight COVID-19 outbreak

SRINAGAR, Mar 20: Amid the growing pandemic of COVID-19, the district administrations in south Kashmir have now issued the advisories and orders to avert the ongoing threat in view of  coronavirus outbreak.

The district administration Pulwama has issued an order by restricting the movement of Public transport in the district as a precautionary measure to avert the threat of COVID-19. Meanwhile the deputy commissioner Anantnag had earlier issued the advisory for tourists not to visit the tourist destinations in Anantnag, despite that the administration has issued an order by imposing strict restrictions on the movement of people to avoid mass gatherings.

While taking to Kashmir Despatch the deputy commissioner Anantnag said that they have now issued an order for all the teachers of district Anantnag to remain off from their offices till further orders. However the District administration Kulgam had too earlier issued an order by restricting public gatherings under prevention and control under epidemic disease Act 1987.

The district commissioner Shopian told Kashmir Despatch that they have issued an advisory for people not to assemble in markets and other public places, as section 144 is imposed in entire town, in the interest of public. He further said that we hope the people of the area will co-operate with District administration.

However in the afternoon tehsildar Kakapora Raqib Ahamd along with the Officials from administration and police do a market checking regarding sanitation of essential commodities besides a check up to medical stores. However the concerned tehsildar had directed the concerned police station to ensure no public transport should ply elsewhere in the tehsil jurisdiction till further orders, so to ensure that no public gathering should be allowed at tehsil jurisdiction.

While taking to Kashmir Despatch tehsildar Kakapora said that whatever the orders they have received by district commissioner they have to follow it with letter and spirit. He said that such market checkings will be in done in future, so that there should be proper hygiene in place

Meanwhile the tehsildar Pampore had also imposed section 144 under formal orders, he told Kashmir Despatch that “we have forwarded all guidelines to concerned Police as well as we are continuously in touch with Health Department. He further said that we have already issued orders regarding closure of hotels and restaurants in the tehsil jurisdiction.
