Coronavirus Row: Rumors at Its Peak in Kashmir, Police Warns

Srinagar: There seems no end of unsubstantiated information in Jammu and Kashmir, yet again rumor-mongers are at its peak and are creating panic among people.

Since the report of Covid-19 suspected cases was reported in Kashmir, rumor-mongers started rounding across the valley by spreading fake and baseless information and are creating panic among the general public.

Despite repeated warnings to the people who are often indulged in spreading baseless information in Kashmir are now circulating fake and baseless reports through multiple modes of communication among the general public over Covid-19.

A top government official in a chat with Kashmir Despatch said no case of deadly coronavirus has been reported in the valley so far.
The officer said people with travel history to coronavirus hit countries are under surveillance in Kashmir. He added that preemptive measures are in place to deal with the threat posed by a coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir.

A police official commented, said civil administration is trying their best to safeguard the general public of valley. Police Official in an appeal to the general public said not to pay heed to rumors as the police is warning to the evil section of society to stop the mongering of baseless information. He said police are continuing monitoring, anyone found guilty have to face its consequences as per law.

Pertinently, Government on Wednesday ordered the closure of all government and private schools, colleges and universities across Jammu and Kashmir across Jammu and Kashmir amid growing scare about coronavirus.
