Sopore, Feb 21 : Councilor Masrat Kar on Sunday questioned the intention of district administration for not holding presidential elections of DDC candidates.

Talking with Kashmir Despatch she said that Sopore is the only town in whole UT where despite holding DDC elections, there is still no elected president.
“In rest of the country elected councilors and DDC members are working for the betterment of people but here in Sopore, district administration is not willing to hold the presidential elections which hampers the developmental work in Sopore,” Kar said.

She said many new faces came forward for the development and betterment of Sopore but unfortunately admin here hardly bother for further process.

Masrat said that there are lot of issues and problems which people in town are facing and we councillors will work hard to redress their issues for the betterment of town.

Pertinent to mention here that the Sopore Municipal Council, responsible for maintaining the sanitation of the town is without a full-fledged president after it’s President Sopore Abdul Ahad was removed from the post after he lost a no-confidence motion.

The charge of the president is lying vacant since January 2021.

Meanwhile Executive Officer Municipal Council Sopore, Sameer Jan told Kashmir Despatch that election will be held once there are orders from District administration.
