Countering Mal-Practices in Tourism Industry

Date:

The J&K Tourism sector has witnessed a new bloom in recent months wherein thousands of tourists thronged to the valley bring alive the nostalgic hustle-bustle into the erstwhile deserted streets of Kashmir.

The current record travel history is enough proof that tourism industry of J&K still posses immense potential to attract the tourists across the globe. However, the mal-practices of fringe elements in this industry creates a bad name and also remains detrimental to our collective interests.

In a recent advisory issued by the tourism department to the service providers in the valley it was asserted that desisting from mal-practices like cheating and over charging remains pivotal to maintain the integrity of the tourism sector otherwise such an approach will utterly devastate the current spikes in tourist flow.

The reviews of the people visiting different places carries a profound importance especially in an era where prospective tourists first view the comments of the people who would have already travelled to that specific place. Therefore, to curb such heinous incidents and nabbing the persons involved in such practices remains highly imperative.

Needless to say, the handicrafts industry in J&K was also tainted with such mal-practices that eventually led to its ultimate fall. The consequences of which were borne by the nimble and adroit artisans who thereafter became helpless and changed their lines of occupation.

With collective efforts while maintaining the business integrity, J&K can easily become a hub of tourist destination. But deceit and frauds can never help this industry to grow and can impose losses of clossal levels.
