Kupwara, April 06 : Amid the rapid growth of COVID-19 In Kashmir , authorities in north Kashmir’s Frontier district availed 100 beds for isolation centre at Sub district hospital Kupwara.
The overnight decison was necessitated after 6 Covid-19 patients from Kupwara were tested positive.
A health official at SDH Kupwara wished not to be named told Kashmir Despatch expect the number to rise as many people are belived to have been in close contact with the victims, so authorities decided to set an isolation ward of 100 beds at SDH Kupwara to tackle the suspected covid-19 victims.
Chief medical officer (CMO) Kupwara, Dr. Kausar Amin told Kashmir Despatch that all the staff including the paramedical and doctors have to perform their duty, a roster has been furnished all will be working according to that.
Though there should be no huge gatherings, a minor OPD has been made functional in Drugmulla to facilitate people, while few of the employees excluded from roster have been asked to attend duty at Sogam, Dr. Kausar said.
The Covid-19 cases are rapidly increasing in Jammu and Kashmir, with the three fresh cases reported on Monday the tally has gone up to 109.
According to the daily Media Bulletin on Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), out of 109 positive cases, 103 are Active Positive, 04 have recovered and 02 have died. Regarding their location, 85 cases are from Kashmir and 18 from Jammu division.
Furthermore, till date 35243 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance which include 10556 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 615 in Hospital Quarantine, 103 in hospital isolation and 17506 under home surveillance. Besides, 6463 persons have completed their 28-day surveillance period.
The Bulletin said that till date 1708 samples have been sent for testing of which 1583 have tested as negative, and 16 reports are awaited till April 06, 2020.
