COVID-19: 17 more test positive, tally jumps to 118 in Kupwara

Kupwara, May 20: Atleast 17 travellers have tested positive for COVID-19 in north Kashmir’s Kupwara District taking the total toll of positive cases to 118 in entire district of which only 55 are active.

Official sources told Kashmir Despatch that the fresh 17 cases are travellers who in recent days arrived back from different parts world through special buses and trains.

Deputy commissioner Kupwara, Anshul Garg informed Kashmir Despatch that “17 travellers have tested positive, all from quarantine centers and are being shifted to COVID Hospital. This justifies the policy for mandatory quarantine and testing of all returnees in public health interest”.

“Simultaneously, 11 recoveries today as well. Total Active cases for Kupwara are now 55”, he said.

He requested for cooperation of everyone in ensuring strict lockdown till 31st in accordance with Govt guidelines.

Pertinently, 118 people have tested positive for novel coronavirus in entire district of which only 55 are active with no fatality as on date.
