COVID-19: Highest single-day spike in J&K, 701 test positive

Tally soars to 13899, 7811 patients recover so far in UT

Srinagar, July 19 : Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday witnessed a highest single-day spike of 701 COVID cases including 80 travellers, five pregnant women and four service providers.

With 701 new cases, the tally of positive cases in J&K has reached to 13,899 including 11,112 from Kashmir and 2,787 from Jammu.

Of 701 new cases, 601 belong to Kashmir division while as 100 are from Jammu division, officials told the news agency, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division has reached to 11,112 including 6,075 recoveries and 225 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 2,787 including 1,736 recoveries and 19 deaths.

They added the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 5,844 including 4,812 from Kashmir division and 1,032 from Jammu division.

With 646 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 7,811, which is 56.19 per cent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 290 from Srinagar, seven from Kulgam, 53 from Baramulla, 21 from Shopian, 28 from Anantnag, 84 from Kupwara, 46 from Pulwama, 21 from Budgam, 27 from Bandipora and 24 from Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as 100 from Jammu division include 40 each from Jammu and Rajouri districts, eight from Kathua, seven from Udhampur, three from Doda and two from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Officials from SKIMS Soura said new cases include 13 from ITI Anantnag while 11 among them are CRPF men, four from BB Cant, one from DPL Bandipora, 28 CRPF men from Srinagar, 13 CRPF men from Budgam, one CRPF man from Pulwama.

Officials from CD hospital said that new cases include five pregnant ladies, four service providers and one defense person from Kupwara.

As per the official figures, 2,901 positive cases including 61 deaths and 1,003 recoveries are from Srinagar, 1,580 including 50 deaths and 896 recoveries are from Baramulla, 1,147 including 791 recoveries and 24 deaths are from Kulgam, 1,103 including 19 deaths and 773 recoveries are from Shopian, 1,060 including 18 deaths and 704 recoveries are from Anantnag, 927 including 544 recoveries and 13 deaths are from Kupwara, 888 including 504 recoveries and 12 deaths are from Pulwama, 770 including 413 recoveries and 19 deaths are from Budgam, 455 including 335 recoveries and five deaths are from Bandipora, 291 including 111 recoveries and four deaths are from Ganderbal.

In Jammu division, 624 including 406 recoveries and 11 deaths are from Jammu district, 360 including 247 recoveries and one death are from Kathua, 379 including 109 recoveries and two deaths are from Rajouri, 331 including 291 recoveries and one death are from Udhampur, 318 including 223 recoveries are from Ramban, 328 including 174 recoveries and one death are from Samba, 161 including two deaths and 88 recoveries are from Doda, 152 including 124  recoveries and one death are from Poonch and 68 including 28 recoveries are from Kishtwar and 66 including 45 recoveries are from Reasi.

As per the daily information bulletin, 3,30,430 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 38,173 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 5,844 persons are in hospital isolation while 13 persons are under hospital quarantine.

According to the bulletin, 2,43,494 persons have completed surveillance period and 42,662 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 5,07,678 samples are available.

Of 5,07,678, the number of samples tested negative stands at 4,93,779 while as 13,899 have been tested positive. Of them, 5,844 are active and 7,811 persons have recovered and 244 persons have died—(KNO)
