A clip of a nikah taking place via video calling has gone viral. Amid the novel coronavirus outbreak, people have been asked to avoid large public gatherings and not to leave their homes. Even during the lockdown in Bihar, this couple found an innovative way to get married, reported India Today.
The video of their wedding ceremony was shared by ANI on 24th of March with the caption, “Watch Bihar: ‘Nikah’ of a couple was performed through video conferencing in Patna yesterday, amid lockdown in the state due to Covid19.” The video shows two people getting married in Patna, Bihar via video call while sitting in different places. The 63-second video starts with the wedding officiator reading verses. If you look carefully, you will see a television hanging on the wall which shows the visuals from the groom’s side.
After a few seconds, the wedding gets solemnised and people start hugging each other. You can hear them saying, ‘Mubarak ho’. The bride is then brought in front of the television and the couple looks at each other for the first time after getting married. A lot of similar cases came forward in other parts of the world as well. Due to the spread of the novel coronavirus, a couple from Singapore attended their wedding reception via video call in February, as they had just returned from China reported ANI.
