Covid-19 Scare: DC Baramulla ordered lockdown, urges people to stay indoors.

Baramulla: Deputy Commissioner on Saturday made a fervent appeal to the residents of Baramulla to stay indoors as much as possible to avoid getting infected by Coronavirus.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. G. N Itoo on Saturday said, there will be a complete lockdown for shops and other business establishments from today till further orders.

He said, only medical shops shall remain open for any emergency, permission shall be obtained in advance.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the citizens, to get out of House’s only when it is extremely necessary, try and do all work from home.

He said, resolution and restraint are very important in combat against this Global epidemic and urged the Baramullians as well as other citizens of J&K to follow the advisories of state Government to fight Coronavirus.

He said restraint is compulsory to protect ourselves and remain healthy.

Earlier, the Health Department also requested the General Public to avoid visiting hospitals unnecessarily. Keeping in mind that pressure should not come to hospitals.

Pertinently health department is working round the clock to serve others by not taking care of themselves.

Meanwhile, reports reaching to Kashmir Despatch said people including stakeholders in Baramulla are refusing to acknowledge the Government orders and advisories and are continuously violating the laws despite the admin made multiple announcements by keeping an eye over Covid-19 scare.

In Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district police on early Saturday detained scores of shopkeepers who were not following the guidelines of admin.

A police officer in an appeal to the general public via Kashmir Despatch said to stay indoors, take precautionary measures, avoid social contact and cooperate with civil administration to tackle this coronavirus threat. The officer also requested the general public not to pay heed to the rumors as they are creating panic and havoc situation within the society. The officer said we are dealing with rumor-mongers, they will face stern action as per the law.

Novel coronavirus cases in India rose to 258 on Saturday after 35 fresh cases were reported in various parts of the country according to the health ministry.

Kashmir has reported only one positive case sofar a 63-year-old woman of Khanyar Srinagar who had a travel history to Saudi Arabia.
