Ganderbal Police Seize 53 Vehicles, Arrest 19 Persons in 3 Months

Ganderbal, May 21: The Police in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district continues its stringent action against the persons involved in the illegal extraction and unauthorized transportation of minor minerals such as sand, bajri, and boulders within the district.
An official told Kashmir Despatch that on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Sandeep Gupta-IPS, special police teams were constituted, led by SHOs and DOs of police stations and police posts of Sub-Division Ganderbal and Sub-Division Kangan, under the supervision of Gh Hassan-JKPS Hqr’s Ganderbal and SDPO Kangan
Muzaffar Jan-JKPS, to check the menace of illegal mining in the district. In the course of this action, 19 persons were arrested, and 14 tippers and 4 tractors were seized during the previous 3 months.
The official said that these vehicles were loaded with illegally extracted bajri/sand and boulders from Nallah Sindh in Ganderbal.
He further said that In this regard, case FIRs have been registered at various police stations, including PS Ganderbal, PS Lar, PS Safapora, PS Kheerbawani, PS Kangan, and PS Gund, under relevant sections of the law.
Moreover, during the joint course of action in the previous 3 months, Ganderbal Police, along with the Geology and Mining Department, raided different locations in the district and seized 26 tippers, 8 tractors, and 1 load carrier, and recovered fines from them on the spot.
