Sopore, Baramulla – In a significant step towards fostering collaboration and growth in the visual arts industry, over 25 experienced professionals from diverse creative fields gathered in Sopore, North Kashmir, on Wednesday.
The meeting brought together photographers, cinematographers, filmmakers, drone pilots, and specialists in wedding, commercial, and corporate photography. Many attendees were established entrepreneurs with over a decade of experience in the region.
Discussions centered on key challenges faced by the creative community, including frequent payment delays from clients and the need for a stronger professional support system.
Senior visual artist Junaid Bhat emphasized the group’s vision for social impact, stating:
“InshaAllah, we will work towards societal betterment by nurturing young talent passionate about photography and cinematography. This is only the beginning.”
The participants unanimously agreed to form an association dedicated to supporting photographers and filmmakers across North Kashmir. The association will not only advocate for members’ professional rights but also enhance the region’s creative culture through free workshops, photography walks, and skill-building programs.
By mentoring emerging artists and promoting ethical, high-quality work, the initiative aims to elevate the reputation of North Kashmir’s visual arts sector and empower a new generation of storytellers.
This collaborative effort marks a transformative phase for the local creative industry—uniting art, community, and vision for a brighter future.
