Srinagar: A Critical Situation Response Vehicle (CSRV) was deployed during a gunfight between security forces and militants in the Awantipora area of Kashmir on Tuesday, an official said.

An official told Kashmir Despatch, the CSRV, which is equipped with bulletproof armor and advanced weaponry, played a crucial role in neutralizing the militants who had taken refuge in a residential area.

“The militants had been holed up in a house for several hours and were exchanging heavy gunfire with our security forces. “The situation was critical, and we needed specialized equipment to tackle it,” said a senior official on condition of anonymity.

The official said that it allowed the security forces to get close to the house where the militants were hiding without exposing themselves to gunfire.

“The CSRV has proved to be a game-changer in such situations. It is a force multiplier that enhances the capabilities of our security forces. It can lift the occupant upto the height of one story where from security force members engage the militants,” said the official.

The gunfight lasted for several hours, and two militants were killed in the operation.

The use of the CSRV in this operation highlights the Indian government’s focus on modernizing its security forces and equipping them with advanced technology to tackle the growing threat of militancy in the region.

The Awantipora area has been a hotbed of militancy in recent years, and security forces have been conducting frequent operations to flush out militants from the area.

The deployment of the CSRV in this operation is seen as a major step towards enhancing the capabilities of the security forces in dealing with such situations.

An official said that the machine was acquired by the forces five years ago in Jammu and Kashmir.
