Cross boder shelling in Kupwara, Poonch

SRINAGAR, August 07 : Armies of India and Pakistan on Friday exchanged gunfire along the line of control in two sectors in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Official sources told Kashmir Despatch that both neighbours exchanged gunfire in Kupwara district of Kashmir and in Poonch district of Jammu Divison on Friday morning.

An army official told Kashmir Despatch that today morning Pak initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small arms & shelling with mortars along LoC in Balakote sector of Poonch. He said this side Army retaliated befittingly.

The officer said in another cross border shelling in Keran sector of Kupwara both armies exchanged gunfire on early Friday.

He said in both sectors no loss of life was reported, however minor damage to property was reported in Poonch sector.
