The 35th Bn, Central Reserve Police Force celebrated its 55th Raising Day with great enthusiasm at 35 Bn Headquarters, Humama, Budgam, Srinagar.
On this occasion, the Commandant of 35 Bn, Shri. Nikhil Rastogi first visited the martyr’s memorial site established at the battalion headquarters and paid homage to the soldiers who have sacrificed in the line of duty. Later, the salute was taken at the quarter guard by the commandant and the guard was inspected.
The Commandant congratulated all the officers, subordinate officers, Jawans and their families of the battalion on the 55th foundation day of the 35 Bn and while addressing them he explained that 35 Bn was converted on 01/06/1968 from 05 Reserve Battalion of Andhra Pradesh State Police. Since this Battalion was converted from Reserve Battalion of Andhra Pradesh State to CRPF 35 Bn. This unit has rendered its services in different parts of the country as well as abroad under adverse circumstances to maintain law and order and prevent terrorist activities and in service to the nation, 25 brave soldiers made supreme sacrifices and bought laurel’s to the force. Bravity is one of the main forties of this Unit and Vir Chakra-01, PPMG-06, PMG-01, Sena Padak-03, (11 Nos) medals have been awarded to braves.
This Battalion was deployed in the sensitive areas of Sri Lanka from 14/10/1987 to 06/10/1989 as an Indian peacekeeping force. Wherein 35 Bn, CRPF displaying its skilful fighting skills and bold / gallant action, succeeded in establishing peace and order in Sri Lanka at that time and in action against various Tamil fighting groups. This battalion actively participated in Operation Parakram run under the Indian Army.
Presently, the Headquarters of the 35 Bn is at Group Center Srinagar Humhama and unit is deployed in the security of hyper sensitive Srinagar International Airport and protecting this airport since last 14 years.
The 35 Bn displayed indomitable courage and bravery during the anti-terrorist operations and successfully discharged the assigned duties. Keeping this in mind the motto of the 35 Bn CRPF is kept "Alert and alive, Thirty Five".
On this auspicious occasion of the Foundation Day of the 35 Bn CRPF, the Battalion Headquarters was grandly decorated and sports competitions and cultural programs were organized at Battalion Headquarters and all affiliated companies. The occasion was graced by the presence of senior officer’s and Smt. Nitu, DIG Srinagar Sector, Sh. R. S. Rawat, DIG Srinagar Sector, Sh. Mathew A John, DIG Srinagar South, Sh. Kishore Prasad, DIG Srinagar Sector, Sh. Rajesh Kumar, DIG GC Srinagar and Sh. Jaidev Keshari, DIG North Range witnessed the cultural programme and the Bada Khana organized on the occasion. Further DG, CRPF Sh. Sujoy L Thaosen, Sh. Nalin Prabhat, SDG J&K Zone and Sh. Ajay Yadav, IG Srinagar Sector conveyed their best wishes to 35 Bn, CRPF personnel.
