Since the onset of Covid-19 pandemic, the economic condition of the world countries has been seriously hit due to immense loss in trade and commerce. The lockdowns have broken the chain of economic growth.
In our country, the situation remained no different. Many small scale enterprises had to be closed down while as a large number of private sector employees lost their jobs during the course of the prevailing contagion.
However, the soaring prices of the essential commodities is now breaking the back of common man in a way which is more devastating than the pandemic itself. People have been already suffering due to the economic constraints and lack of job opportunities available to them. But such unprecedented inflation is absolutely frustrating and depressing for an already stressed public.
In these circumstances, it becomes the moral duty of a welfare state to create avenues and introduce amnesty schemes where the miseries of the people are alleviated and an ample opportunity is provided to them so that they could come out of the shackles of this distressing bondage.
Needless to say that the irregular spikes in the essential commodities like cooking oil, fuel and medicines must be put under control and the government should act in a prompt manner where the grievances of the people don’t go unheard or unresolved.
Besides, recent hikes in electricity and water supply bills is also seen as a arbitrary decision by the people who currently require economic support from the government to safeguard their shambling businesses but such decisions only add to their gloom. The government is for the people and it must address their genuine demands while keeping in view the current economic scenario.
