Two Terrorists Believed to Be Trapped

Sopore, Nov 7: Just a day after a significant success for security forces in the northern region of Kashmir, following the killing of two terrorists, another anti-militancy operation has been launched in the Sopore area of Baramulla district.
Official sources told Kashmir Despatch that a joint team of security forces—including the Army’s 22 RR, SOG Sopore, and CRPF—launched a cordon and search operation in the Panipora area of Sopore’s Zaingeer belt on Thursday evening, acting on intelligence regarding the presence of terrorists in the region.
Sources indicated that as the searching party encircled the targeted house, the hiding terrorists opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response and resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
The operation is still ongoing, and firing from both sides is reported to be continuing as of the time this report was filed.
A senior official informed Kashmir Despatch that two militants are believed to be trapped, and civilians are being evacuated to safer locations.

This marks the third anti-militancy operation in the northern region of Kashmir within the last 24 hours, following the killing of two Pakistani terrorists in two separate gunfights in the Bandipora and Lolab forests on Wednesday.
