Srinagar, August 17: Former Chief Minister and National Conference President Dr. Farooq Abdullah stated that the days are gone when people used to vote for Er. Rashid, thinking that he would be released from jail, but that all turned out to be false. Not only was the vote wasted, but the funds used also could not be utilized.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah was speaking on one of the social media platforms, as per the Kashmir Despatch. He said that in Er. Rashid’s case, his brothers and children had misled the people in the previous elections, claiming that if he got their votes, he would be released from jail, but that proved to be wrong. Neither was he hanged, nor did he come out of jail.
Dr. Farooq further said that at that time, people had given him sympathy votes, but now the people have understood everything, and they will not be fooled again.
When asked whether the people will now vote for NC, Dr. Farooq replied that he does not know whom the people will vote for, but the better people know who is suitable for them. This is a democracy, and the decision lies with the people.
Farooq further said that he is very happy that the Assembly Elections are going to be held now, and this time the government of the people will come, and the rule of the bureaucrats will end.
Dr Farooq also made serious allegations against BJP, stating that if the Election Commission of India did not help them, they would not have been able to win even 140 seats. Farooq said that the Election Commission has not been able to answer till now as to where 5 lakh votes came from when there were only 4 lakh voters, and they have also not been able to explain why only 3 lakh votes were polled when there were 4 lakh voters. He said that the Election Commission has not been able to answer this till now, so the BJP should stop using the slogan of crossing 370 seats.
Pertinently, Jailed leader Er Rashid, who emerged victorious in the recently held Lok Sabha elections from the Baramulla Constituency, defeating a former J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by a significant margin.
The announcement of assembly election dates in Jammu and Kashmir by the Election Commission of India has sent a wave of excitement across the political spectrum and among the common people of the union territory. After a long hiatus of 10 years, the stage is now set for a vibrant democratic exercise, with all major political parties welcoming the move.
